How do you convince a Grammy-winning, household-name that writing a jingle for an insurance company isn’t compromising his artistic integrity?

By letting him re-write it…any way he wants.

That appears to be how ad agency Oglivy Mather got Brad Paisley to sing the “Nationwide is on your side” earworm. This is so cool:

Nationwide Insurance went one step further and had up-and-comers Rachel Platton and Leslie Odom, Jr. add to the collection. Odom is best known for playing Aaron Burr opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda on Broadway’s Hamilton. He left the show in 2016 to break out on his own. In my opinion, this is the best one:

A-list celebrities often appear in ads for overseas brands; ads that their US fanbase aren’t likely to see. It’s one of many ways celebrities earn money without losing credibility with their US audience.

Kudos for Oglivy and their client for hacking this old practice; and reinventing how rock stars feel about doing ads.
