Bio
For 35 years Roger Lehman has been performing throughout the US and Canada. He has performed in every capacity including street cafes, coffee houses, nightclubs, television, and large concert venues.
A multi-instrumentalist, Roger’s first instrument was Tenor Saxophone at the age of 12. Roger says that his saxophone career was cut short very quickly because when The Beatles arrived on the scene in 1964, like every other American boy, he picked up a guitar “and never looked back”.
His initial musical experience was playing bass, but he quickly broadened his scope to playing, six and twelve-string guitars, piano, organ, drums, flute, saxophone, violin, and a wide assortment of hand drums. According to Roger, “When I played in bands back in the sixties, every guy wanted to be the ‘hot dog’ lead guitar player and nobody wanted to play anything else. So since there was always a shortage of bass players, drummers, keyboard players, percussionists, rhythm guitarists, and lead singers, I pretty much learned to fill all those other slots. I’ve never regretted learning to play a dozen different instruments instead of only one.”
In the years since, Lehman has built a reputation as a first rate finger style acoustic guitarist, songwriter, and pianist. He has an emotionally charged voice that purveys both the humor and drama that can be found in his music.
Recently, Roger’s composition," When an Angel Flies Away", has been used internationally by Kaiser Permanente, and his instrumental composition, "Byrd Thing", is to be used in an upcoming production by Expanded Books, Inc. of Hollywood, CA. His catalog of over 85 original pieces is published in online musical production libraries throughout the United States, England, and France.
To date, he has produced 9 CD’s of his own original material in addition to his 2000 co-written Vietnam Vet Tribute CD.
Music Description
Most of the vocal pieces are a mixture of Folk, Blues, and Jazz. The instrumental pieces primarily fall into the Jazz/Classical/New Age genre.
