This spot, released on Red Bull’s YouTube channel on July 2012, has the clear sensory advantage over other TV spots unlucky enough to be sharing air time with it. Why? First, the sheer culture shock of hearing a stuffy old British guy rhyming over a hip-hop track is enough to at least get your attention. Then come the arresting animations that are reportedly done by some mysterious ad agency creative in Hungary (Red Bull’s official international ad agency is Kastner & Partners). Then my favorite part, which is the dead-simple synth outro you hear after the logo comes up. It’s as if some goofy School House Rock party will surely continue raging on after you’ve been excused from the room. Brilliant.
